this past weekend was my 1st wedding anniversary. i woke up friday morning with a sore throat which progressed into a full-on sinus blow-up over the weekend. also, it rained for the entire day saturday, which meant bike-riding, the international festival and all other outdoor activities were cancelled. so being the industrious couple we are, we changed plans on the fly. saturday we went to the angelika movie theater downtown and watched "the great buck howard" which was one of those movies that no one else, besides you, will ever see. it was actually really good and then we went to the hotel and had dinner. sunday the weather was cleared up and the baseball game was good, despite the fact the astros lost. my wife got an autograph from reds 2nd basemen brandon phillips. it was an old ball i kept in my car to use at the park, so when she handed it to him, he commented, "what the hell happened to this ball?" to which my wife responded, "we used it."
so i'm feeling better today after sleeping almost all day yesterday.

great article on the "wail of the 1%." this opens up a great dialogue about compensation.
